Our first national prayer conference for the Year of Prayer in BiH was January 25th-27th in Mostar, a city in the south of the country. I am pleased to report that the turnout was much more than we expected! We had 130 people registered for the conference, and there were probably about twenty more than that at some of the meetings. It was a wonderful time of seeking the Lord, worshiping and hearing from Him together. The worship was led by Neno (a worship leader in the Evangelical Church in Dolac Malta, Sarajevo) and Beki (a pastor from Sanski Most). It was very anointed—and it was a joy to be able to worship with such a big group of people representing many different parts of the country.
Some of those who attended the conference had never met or been around believers outside of their own town. For them, it was a chance to connect with others who share their faith and be encouraged that they are not alone.
At different points throughout the weekend, we took time to pray for various churches and ministries—both within Mostar and in the rest of the country. On the Saturday afternoon, we all had opportunity to go on prayer walks at one of three places: Medjugorje, Blagaj or in the city of Mostar. Medjugorje is a Catholic pilgrimage sight outside of Mostar. Blagaj is the site of a Muslim Monastery, where the River Buna originates (the Monastery is next to the opening of the mountain out of which the source flows. The city of Mostar, itself, is divided into the West and East sides (Catholic and Muslim, respectively), separated by the Neretva river. The ethnic divide of the city is evidence of the war that divided the residents against each other in the 90’s. Throughout all the meetings and the prayer walks, God’s presence was very strong among us. God is certainly doing something in these days in BiH, and I’m sure that part of it is due to the fact that people like you are praying!
It is estimated that there are, at the most, 1,000 believers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In light of that, we had 13% of all the believers in the country gathered together for a PRAYER conference—that is amazing! Please join with us in praising God for the ways that He has already done far more than we could have asked or imagined; and this is just the beginning.
Part of the wonder of this year is that we know we are not alone in our prayers! I truly believe that the prayers of the saints around the world will be a catalyst in the healing and freedom coming to His people here. Thank you for standing with us! Keep pressing on…

On June 20th-22nd the second national prayer conference was held for the Year of Prayer for BiH (Bosnia-Herzegovina). In the span of the conference, we had about 200 people attend—an amazing turnout! With summer being a busy time in churches and ministries, we were pleased to see how many still participated. We had people from all over the country representing different denominations, as well as foreign short-term teams attending.
Our prayer focus for most of the weekend was on the churches and ministries of Central Bosnia (including, but not limited to, Sarajevo, Zenica, Kakanj, Breza, Jajce, Travnik and Bugojno). A special focus throughout the time was on Emek Beraka (the summer camps run by the Evangelical Church: http://www.emekberaka.org ).
The conference was full of times of anointed worship, prayer, fellowship with one another and encouragement. On Friday night, we saw several people come forward to be prayed for during a spontaneous missions call. It is exciting to see that God is stirring in peoples’ hearts concerning His kingdom.
On Saturday, we had different groups of people prayer-walking around the city. They prayed over government buildings, colleges, religious sites, etc. Others attended a prayer workshop, and still others a workshop on dance in worship.
Many of us were working around busy schedules, lack of sleep, and long travels. In the end, there was tremendous blessing in the place of humbly coming before the Lord as a community of believers on behalf of BiH.
As children of God, our ultimate reality lies in the spiritual realm. We know that there are things being moved in the spiritual world that we cannot yet see with our eyes. We know that God is at work, and that if we have faith, even as small as a mustard seed, that we can move mountains. God is moving. He is building our faith; the time is coming when we will see with our eyes the things that are shifting in the spiritual realm.
Whether you were at the conference in body, in spirit (praying with us) or are simply finding out about it now, know that we are bound together in this journey. As we continue to pray, believe and expect great things in, and for, this land, God is building His church.
